This large, artistic scroll is a tribute to pilgrims who have walked the 33 temples of Shikoku's Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage (See more on wikipedia).

The central figure is Kannon, the buddhist goddess of mercy, and she is surrounded by the unique calligraphy insignia of the 33 temples of the pilgrimage trail in Shikoku that bears her name.

The border is a blue and gold silk brocade. The scroll comes in its original paulownia wooden box.

This is really an outstanding art piece with deep spiritual significance for those who might meditate or just admire Buddhist art. This scroll is not vintage - these are commissioned by pilgrims who have done the pilgrimage even today.
