FREE TIME: Most mornings before the workshops and afternoons after the workshops are free for you to do as you like. We'll offer an activity based on the group's interest, but for the most part you can do whatever you like. We can help make arrangements for whatever you'd like to see or do as long as you let us know IN ADVANCE. There are thousands of websites about things to do in Kyoto, so please do your research and then let us know how we can help. A few suggestions are to tour of a kimono or sake factory, hike around Kyoto, or an excursion to some lovely temples. The museums have elegant exhibits - oh, there's so much to choose from! Nearby villages that you could visit include:
Arashiyama (A town west of Kyoto with many, many temples and gardens, as well as an amazing bamboo forest)
Kurama (a small town north of Kyoto with great hiking and hot springs!)
Ohara (a small village north of Kyoto with wonderful temples)
Nara (a larger town southeast of Kyoto, home of the famous Big Buddha and deer park)

You might also take a day trip to other cities, such as Himeiji (where the famous castle is), Osaka (to taste the big city life), Hiroshima (the Peace Museum), Kobe (an international city), or many others places.
