The
following are letters from the guests on our 2005 trip. |
Hi Nancy,
Yesterday I took a moment to look at some of my photos from our
May 2005 trip and it brought back so many wonderful memories.
I am so glad that I made the trip with you. As a group, I thought
we traveled very well together. There were so many opportunities
to see sights and experience Kyoto. As I work with all the beautiful
fabric that I picked up on the trip, I am delighted that I went.
I think the personal touches that your buyer, Gary, provided
made the trip very special. Also, meeting all of your friends
from when you lived in Japan gave real insights into Westerners
living in Japan. |

I totally enjoyed our
last evening in the home of Mariko where we got to help cook
a dinner. None of these opportunities would have happened on
a typical package tour, nor could I have created them if I had
traveled on my own. The workshops that you scheduled were fun,
it was nice to have some hands-on activities instead of just
touring. So, I definitely would encourage people to take advantage
of your next trip. Just reading this makes me want to go again!
I thought that your website information prepared me well. The
trip was not as independent as I thought it might be from your
previous write-ups but I definitely felt that if I had wanted
to break off and do more on my own, that would have been totally
acceptable. You simply provided so many opportunities that I
couldn't resist taking advantage of so I never felt the need
to refrain from your planned activities. I definitely enjoyed
taking off for Hiroshima on my own on our free day as I am more
used to being on my own while traveling.
Would I have changed anything? Probably not. I preferred the
Palaceside Hotel to the ryokan, even though I like ryokans in
general. The Palaceside was more centrally located, had free
internet for keeping in touch with family, a great Thai massage
place that we could schedule on our own (their foot massages
were great and reasonable) and many interesting tourists to meet.
I would have liked to have tried their Japanese lessons but didn't
realize they were offered free each evening until we were checking
out. All of us in one big room at the ryokan got a little old
after a day but really was fine. A private room option might
have been nice.
I would be more than happy to respond with anyone considering
going if they write me at judy@judywarner.com. And, anyone is
welcome to visit my website, www.judywarner.com,
and click on the Travels button on the left hand side to read
my journal of the trip.I hope to keep adding links in the next
few months. Thanks for a wonderful opportunity. Best of luck!

Hi Nancy
I wanted to let you
know what a great time I had on our trip to Japan. The whole
experience turned out to be so much more than I ever expected.
I would never have been able to see and do as much on my own.
Gary is an amazing sensei and I really appreciated his knowledge
of the language and culture and the way he taught us some of
the etiquite of Japanese living. Our workshops were another inspired
idea and the senseis were a delight. The hotel was comfotable
but I especially enjoyed the ryokan with all of us in one room.
It was fun. I felt well taken care of and looked after. I'm looking
forward to going again.
Thanks Nancy, well-done.
