Description

"Batting Abstraction" Focus Fabric Hanging

Adopt this rescued treasure to add a unique Asian accent to your home or office décor. The textile in this display piece was salvaged from a vintage Japanese obi that was no longer wearable or displayable in its original form.

“Batting Abstratction" is a very unique piece!  It's the inside lining of a very old obi - the blue indigo cotton was layered with a thin silk batting, and over the years the silk bunched and thinned along the length of the obi, resulting in this wonderfully abstract design.  Trapped inside the batting are twigs and scraps that have made their way into the silk over the years.  It's not a piece that will interest everyone, but we know there's a collector out there who will find it fascinating!

We layered the lining against a cream colored cotton obi liner from a different obi.

This Focus Fabric is hung from a pair of chopsticks and includes two vintage haori himo ties with loops that can be hooked over a decorative nail or picture hanger (not included) or connected with cording or ribbon and hung over a single hook.
