Description

"Springtime Blues" - Vintage Obijime and Obiage Set

This is a obi jime and obi age combination set.

Technically, that lovely length of pastel silk - with a shibori design - is actually a scarf, but it makes such a wonderful match with the obi jime we paired them together. You can always use it as an actual scarf in the springtime.

The obijime is a robin's egg blue and primarily a flat weave with breaks of cream and primary colors.

Obijime are the finishing touch to the traditional obi sash, tied on top of the obi with a decorative knot at the front. The obijime color and design should complement the ensemble rather than match the color.

An obi age [oh-bee ah-gay] is one of the final touches when wearing a traditional Japanese kimono. It holds the little pillow in place at the back bow and comes around the front, just peeking out above the obi at the waist. They aren't supposed to match the obi per se, but complement it or provide a splash of eye-catching color.

See the videos below on wearing obi with obiage and obijime.
