"Kizakura Kappa Sake" - Totebag

On one side is the name of a famous sake distillery in Fushimi, just south of Kyoto. (We've been there on our annual tour to Kyoto - it's fantastic!)

On the other side is a cartoonish drawing of a kappa - a mythical, impish creature from Japanese folklore - and part of the company's name.

This tote is half of a double pouch sake bottle carrier - we cut the wide shoulder strap and replaced it with a lovely wooden handle set that closes with a twisting latch. (And we made the other half of the pouch into a second tote.)

The fabric is a contemporary, heavy canvas with stenciled letters. It is a remake of an old, traditional tote for two large bottles of soy sauce or sake (called issho-bin).

Sturdy and trendy - a great break from backpacks and grocery totes!
