"Cascade on Orange" Unfinished Women's Kimono
This is a karinui - an unfinished kimono that has been cut into the panels and basted together at the seams but has not been completed or lined. It's impossible to tell why this was not completed, but it could have been a shop display sample or might have been a cancelled order.... It is not easy to complete this as a kimono, though a karinui certainly gives you a head start on the attempt rather than beginning with a tan (continuous bolt meant for a kimono). This is gorgeous silk, with a satiny finish and a cloud jacquard in the background. The waterfall scene cascades across the back as well as across the shoulder in the front. Wonderful florals and pine motif also scattered about, with embroidery accents as well. If you decided to take the basting out, you'd have about eleven yards of fabric to use for your sewing project. Great for scarves, pillows, a dress - even a blanket or quilt top. ______________________________ Silk Lined:No Length=70" Condition:Excellent |
