One of a kind authentic Japanese katagami stencil, used to create kimono fabrics between 1940 and 1960.

Intersecting angles create an overlapping lozenge design, and inside each section is an amazing floral.  Look closely to see that the entire design was created with tiny, tiny punch holes.

This was purchased in Kyoto in a large lot, so the price is low considering the craftsmanship and authenticity. Each is uniquely designed and was hand cut by punch or cutting tools, coated in persimmon juice and reinforced with a tiny silk screen.  Click HERE to view a short youtube video on how these stencils are cut.
