A lovely contemporary obi with a silver and gold - almost snowy - patterning that features a large single flower nested in each area of a large diamond grid.  The design is done in a heavy brocade that weaving experts will appreciate.

This is a fukuro obi - wide for the entire length, plain on the backside and patterned only on the front, with a blank section on the front as well - this would be hidden under a patterned layer wrapped around the waist, but this break in the patterning can also provide a nice color contrast when the piece is displayed.
