The blue background is covered with a snowy speckling of gold and white; and atop that is a very elaborate and complicated combination of design techniques.
Stenciled florals, painted features on the cranes, dye-shaded florals, gold couched borders, and more.
No doubt this was a very expensive item when first created.
Heavily padded red hem. This is an uchikake - meant to be worn on top of another kimono, not meant to be tied with an obi but rather draped open, mostly for picture taking. These also make elegant displays.
This kimono ships from Japan via tracked airmail, and the shipping cost is included in the price.
