Vintage Japanese Kimono, Obi, Fabric

A traditional wedding kimono - the auspicious "Japanese red" color - with a design of birds in flight. These seem to be phesants, though they look like the Oo, Bird of Paradise, without the long trailing tailfeathers.

The patterning on this kimono is completely embroidered - at least some is by hand and we suspect that all of it was done by hand, as amazing as that would be! In addition to the silver and gold, there are soft pink and blue accent colors to the florals and a wonderfully bright green for the bamboo leaves you'll find along the hem.

This is a kakeshita style of wedding kimono, with a lighter weight, lighter padding at the hem and less patterning at the waist so that it can be more readily belted without covering the design.
