Natural indigo-dyed cotton with a sashiko pattern featuring tortoises in the center, with a fan design, lightening pattern and geometric puzzle pattern.

Gathered cotton tassles on two corners.

All hand done sashiko on four panels that are stitched together.

Some patchwork on the backside.

Some fading, too, but still quite a collector's item.

A furoshiki is a wrapping cloth, traditionally used to carry or store personal items. Like most, it is a single layer, unlined.

Sashiko is a hand stitching method associated with country textiles in Japan.

Technique: Sashiko.
