"Dowry Carts" Fukuro Obi
Bold and bright contemporary colors - probably from the 1970's or 80's. Large treasure (dowry) carts repeated all along the front of the obi. Reds, golds, greens, purples - very festive! This is a fukuro obi - wide for the entire length, plain black on the backside and patterned only on the front. It is more narrow than the typical adult's fukuro obi (which would be 12" or more) - this is only 8" wide so was created for a child or young teen, and the belt portion was to be worn "wide", and not folded in half as it would be for an adult's width. __________________ Possibly a silk blend, but could be synthetic. Length=11' |
